Now that summer’s over, those of us living in Northern climates need to focus on getting our daily dose of vitamin D; that’s why you’ll be interested to learn about D Drops. Often dubbed the ‘sunshine vitamin’ because it is synthesized upon exposure to the sun’s UVB rays, Vitamin D has received a lot of press lately because it’s deficiency has been linked to a number of health conditions including Type 2 diabetes, a depressed immune system and an increased risk for some types of cancers.

A number of studies have shown that many of us who in the Northern Hemisphere are deficient in this vitamin (which acts more like a hormone than a vitamin). While our body can manufacture between 3000 and 5000 International Units (IU) of Vitamin D within minutes of sun exposure, the winter rays just aren’t strong enough to produce Vitamin D. That’s why many health care professionals and organizations including the Canadian Cancer Society recommend that you supplement during the winter months with a supplement like D Drops. Just 1000 IU daily (for an adult) should do it. If you are elderly, dark skinned or spend little time outdoors, then you should consider supplementing year round. Check with your physician if you aren’t sure.
