Anthelios Sunscreens: 4 Golden Rules

You are currently viewing Anthelios Sunscreens: 4 Golden Rules

If you’re a fan, then you already know that Anthelios sunscreens  deliver exceptional protection against UVA and UVB rays. Formulated with La Roche Posay’s patented sun filtering Mexoryl SX/Mexoryl XL technology, this line not only helps protect against sunburn, but also minimizes photo-damage, which ages skin and increases the risk for some types of skin cancer.

Warm weather hasn’t arrived quite yet, but it’s probably time to visit your sun care routine so that you’re ready for when the sun finally arrives. Whether you’re an Anthelios sunscreen enthusiast, or are devoted to another broad spectrum sunscreen formulation, here are 4 golden rules to ensure that you’re taking proper care of your skin in the sun:

  1. Avoid exposure during hours of peak sunlight. The hours between 10 am and 4 pm are widely regarded as the time during which the sun’s intensity is strongest. If you can’t avoid being under the sun during these hours, minimize your exposure and cover up with sunscreen.
  2. Don’t expose children under the age of three to direct sunlight. Children’s sensitive skin makes them more prone to sunburn. And, sun exposure during childhood and adolescence appears to increase the risk for health consequences later in life. You can’t always avoid exposure to the sun, so if it is inevitable, cover them up with clothing. After swimming, dry your child and reapply a water resistant UVA/UVB blocking sunscreen. I like Anthelios XL SPF 45 Kids Lotion  and Anthelios XL SPF 45 Spray.  Both are water resistant and designed to be used under extreme sunshine intensity.
  3. Minimize exposure. It isn’t always possible to hide indoors – and what fun would that be, in any case? Seek shade, pr.otect yourself with clothing, don a hat and wear UV-filtering sunglasses.
  4. Apply enough sunscreen. If I know that I’m going to be out all day or spending time in intense sunshine, I tend to apply two coats. This ensures two things: first, that I don’t miss any spots and second, that there is enough sunscreen to do the job. Remember to apply to your ears, the nape of your neck and your feet, areas we often overlook. Even with water resistant formulas reapply about every two hours or after swimming or excessive perspiration. Anthelios sunscreens  come in a wide range of textures (creams, fluids, gels, body milk, sticks) to suit everyone’s needs and preferences. In fact, it’s been shown that users are more likely to reapply a product when they like its texture.

Anthelios sunscreens and 4 golden rules = prescription for wellbeing under the sun.
