MaMa Lotion – It’s Back

You are currently viewing MaMa Lotion – It’s Back

MaMa Lotion, a long standing customer favorite at PhaMix was discontinued a few years ago, much to everyone’s disappointment. A high potency alpha hydroxy acid (AHA) formulation, MaMa Lotion is effective at treating acne scars, dark spots, large pores, scars and melasma. Our customers LOVED it, but it was unfortunately discontinued by its manufacturers. *Unfortunately Mama Lotion has been discontinued at PhaMix.

Fast forward several years and MaMa Lotion is back! This gentle yet effective formulation contains two key AHAs; malic acid and mandelic acid:

*Malic acid. Derived from apple juice, malic acid easily penetrates the skin, removing dead skin cells and revealing a fresh new layer of skin.  It is an antioxidant which helps to protect skin from free radicals and premature aging.  And if that isn’t enough for you, it is also a humectant, providing skin with wonderful non-greasy hydration.  Want more?  It is particularly beneficial for sensitive skin types that generally don’t tolerate other acid treatments, and is great for darker skin tones.

*Mandelic Acid. Extracted from bitter almonds, mandelic acid is widely-used in skin care formulations to assist with a range of conditions including hyperpigmentation, acne and wrinkles.  It has anti-bacterial properties, making it useful in the prevention and healing of breakouts.  It absorbs and controls oil production, which can help to reduce the shine associated with oily and combination skins.  Like malic acid, it also delivers anti-oxidant benefits and non-greasy hydration.

Combine the two in MaMa Lotion and wonderful things happen to skin:

  • Evens skin tone, including removing age spots and freckles
  • Fades acne scars
  • Significantly reduces acne breakouts
  • Tightens pores
  • Shrinks or eliminates blackheads
  • Reduces or erases fine lines and wrinkles
  • Significantly reduces the symptoms of rosacea
  • Fades melasma (the mask of pregnancy)

The malic/mandelic acid combination has a slower more even penetration compared to the more widely used glycolic acid, making it less irritating and better tolerated. Darker skin types should follow instructions carefully.

MaMa Lotion has many fans, but for those of you unfamiliar with the product, here are a couple of reviews.

“I’ve only been using MaMa Lotion for just under a month but I love the way my skin is reacting to it. I have combo skin and the occasional clogged pore zit but my skin takes forever to heal and I have dark blemishes that take weeks to clear.  Ever since using MaMa Lotion, my I feel as though my skin cell turnover rate has increased like when I was on Accutane, and my dark spots are clearing up faster than ever. Also I noticed those pesky milia under my eyes are shrinking and disappearing. It makes sense that they would as the mandelic and malic acid are meant to slough off skin cells”

“Mama lotion has literally transformed my skin!! 5mos. ago I would have said I have sensitive, combination, oily skin but now I can say it is normal. The first month I only used it twice a week, alternating with my regular skincare line…..In this time I experienced slighty dry patches and pimples on odd areas of my face which I never had before. I stuck with it though and found within another 2-3 weeks my oily breakout areas (especially my chin) had diminished and my skin tone and texture had started to even out. It was amazing! Now I use mama lotion 3-4 times a week and barely ever get a pimple. If I do it only lasts about a day or 2 and is very minimal in size. Areas of hyperpigmentation on my forehead have lightened significantly as well. They are still there…. but they are a bit lighter.”

Yes, Mama’s back. You should get some!
