I got this product to get rid of the dark spots that were left on my skin after I got rid of psorasis. It is making my skin really dry in those areas. Anyone else experience this? If so, why is this? Is it normal? Should I stop using lomelin? Any help would be great.

We are sorry to hear that you are experiencing skin dryness with the use of Lomelin cream. It is not something that has been reported back to us by any of our customers. However, side effects can be quite individualized so any one, or a combination of ingredients may be responsible for the dryness. It is difficult to know for certain what is causing the dry skin. Additionally, the dryness may be caused by other skin products you are using, a change in the weather (it is less humid and colder as we head into winter and that often contributes to dryness as well) or even your diet.
You may want to give your skin a break for a few days and then try to reintroduce the Lomelin cream. If you are using it in conjunction with other potentially irritating ingredients such as a retinoid, alpha hydroxy acids, etc, then for you, this may not be a feasible combination. Alternate the use of products to see if this helps. Moisturize more often. As long as your skin isn’t becoming red or irritated it is probably safe to continue with the Lomelin. However, if after following our tips, you still can’t tolerate it, it would likely be wise to discontinue its use.

Lomelin Skin Brightening Cream is a botanical based skin lightener that uses alpha arbutin and Melaslow to reduce the appearance of pigmentation. Arbutin is a hydroquinone precursor and as such, the potential for irritation exists, however small. We always like to err on the side of caution and would suggest that it be used in a cyclic fashion (4 months on, 2 months off) with daily application of a broad-spectrum sunscreen, as you would with a hydroquinone product. As with any skin lightening product, results are very individual, and if you are at all unsure about its use, it would be best to consult your doctor or dermatologist regarding long-term.
