5 Beauty Sins You May Be Guilty Of

Rule breaker or not, you may still be causing harm to your skin by committing any one of the 5 following beauty sins. Guilty or not?

Sin 1: Going To Bed With Makeup On
Maybe you stayed out late or drank a little bit too much. So you went to bed without cleansing – big deal, right? Well, aside from the fact that whoever washes your pillowcase won’t like it, you may be damaging your skin. This is especially problematic if you’re prone to acne – makeup left on overnight can clog pores and trap dirt from the day. Lazy? Consider an easy solution like La Roche Posay Physiological Cleansing Gel. Simply rub on and off with a cotton pad. No rinsing required.

Sin 2: Too Much Exfoliation
If a little is good, more must be better. False. Yes, most of us benefit from regular exfoliation to get rid of dead skin cells that can make skin appear drier and older, but this process can also make skin more vulnerable to sun damage. Strive for exfoliating just 2-3 times per week. For most of us, that’s plenty.

Sin 3: Not Enough Sleep
With the theory that your skin repairs itself at night gaining more traction, if you don’t get enough shut eye, it will likely show in your skin. Beyond dark circles, a new study suggests that not enough sleep can double the signs of ageing skin. Turn out the lights!

Sin 4: Tanning
Most of us are already well versed about the dangers associated with tanning. Aside from scary skin cancer, tanning will set you up for brown spots, wrinkles and saggy skin. Just say no! While you’re at it, remember to apply your sunscreen every day.

Sin 5: Over Moisturizing
There can be too much of a good thing and this applies to moisturizing. Moisturizers are a boon to dry skin, but overdoing it may result in break outs or milia, which are tiny white spots that occur when dead skin cells get trapped in the skin. What to do? Stay away from heavy products and opt instead for a lightweight, non-greasy formulation as found in Apothekari Daily Infusion. If you have oily skin and are prone to acne, consider skipping the moisturizer and opt for a serum instead.

Guilty of 4 out of 5! Fortunately I was able to spot my errors along the way and did everything I could to remedy the damage.

    Thanks for posting Sharmani.
