Lustra and Lustra AF are 4% hydroquinone creams used to treat hyperpigmentation conditions of the skin. Hyperpigmentation is the medical term for dark spots or blotches, which may be the result of damage to your skin from an injury, too much sun exposure, or hormones in your body. Lustra has been shown to help treat Melasma, age spots and post inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) as well as other hyperpigmentation disorders. When used as directed, Lustra can help to restore your skin back to an even tone, fading away spots and blemishes.
Lustra contains hydroquinone, the gold standard in treating hyperpigmentation issues. Hydroquinone has been successfully used for many years in effectively treating Melasma, age spots and post inflammatory hyperpigmentation.
|Lustra is available in two formulations – Lustra and Lustra AF. Both formulations contain 4% hydroquinone to help improve skin color by fading dark spots and blotches. Lustra and Lustra AF also contain an antioxidant system that utilizes vitamins C and E to help protect skin from free radical damage that can speed the aging process. Free radicals may be caused by exposure to the sun or environmental pollutants. Moisturizers in Lustra products help to maintain skin’s suppleness and clarity. And lastly, the addition of glycolic acid (an alpha hydroxy acid) enhances exfoliation, increasing cell turnover and helping to shed pigmented cells faster, thereby reducing the visible signs of skin aging.|
|Lustra AF contains the added benefit of sunscreen. Exposure to the sun’s UV rays is known to stimulate the production of melanin faster than hydroquinone can stop it, therefore the use of a broad spectrum UVA/UVB blocking sunscreen is very important when using Lustra. Lustra AF gives you the added protection of a broad spectrum UVA/UVB blocking sunscreen and will help you to decrease the risk of future skin discoloration. If you prefer to use Lustra rather than Lustra AF during the day, ensure that you also apply a sunscreen with a minimum of SPF 15 protection|
Important Safety Information
It’s important that you use Lustra as directed as hydroquinone may produce unwanted effects if not used as directed. Occasional skin irritation may occur. Lustra and Lustra AF should be tested for skin sensitivity prior to use. Excessive inflammatory responses are contraindications for further use, while minor redness is not.
Contact with eyes should be avoided. Sunscreen use is an essential aspect of hydroquinone therapy, because even minimal sunlight sustains melanocytic activity. During treatment and maintenance therapy, sun exposure should be avoided on treated skin by application of a broad spectrum sunscreen (SPF 15 or greater) or by use of protective clothing to prevent repigmentation. The sunscreens in Lustra AF provide the necessary sun protection during therapy..
Warning: Lustra AF and Lustra contain sodium metabisulfite which may cause serious allergic reactions (eg, hives, itching, wheezing, anaphylaxis, severe asthma attack) in certain susceptible persons.
