Women often feel pressured to expand the size of their breasts. And this pressure have provided a great marketing opportunity for companies to create and market bust enhancement creams. These creams promise to increase breast size by using a variety of natural ingredients. And while the creams do contain natural ingredients, it’s important to remember that even natural ingredients can sometimes have side effects. Plus, there is very little in the way of evidence to show that any topical cream can expand the bust.
Ingredients Advertised to Enhance Your Bust
Most bust enhancement creams claim to use herbal compounds to encourage growth of the breasts. Some of these ingredients possess slight estrogenic effects and since estrogen does play a role in increasing breast tissue, the implication is that these ingredients will do the same. What’s important to remember here is that in some women, estrogen may play a role in the development of breast cancer. This is particularly important to keep in mind if you have a family history of breast cancer.
Common Breast Enhancement Ingredients
Saw Palmetto – For many years, this ingredient has been considered useful as a treatment for an enlarged prostate. It has also shown evidence of cell growth normalization. Oddly, many bust enhancement creams cite this ingredient as a stimulant for cell growth. No clinical evidence exists to support this claim.
Blessed Thistle – This has been used to increase milk flow in women who are lactating. Like Saw Palmetto, there is no scientific evidence that Blessed Thistle is useful for increasing bust size.
Dong Quai – This ingredient has been used in China for many years to reduce the intensity of symptoms related to menopause. While there is no known link between Dong Quai and breast enlargement, clinical studies have shown a link to the development of breast cancer. Incidentally, Dong Quai can also make the skin more susceptible to sun exposure.
Wild Yam – This herbal compound is often promoted to help ease symptoms of perimenopause. Wild Yam contains compounds that can be converted into progesterone in a laboratory. The compounds cannot be converted in the human body. There is absolutely no evidence to show that Wild Yam can help to enlarge breast size.
Fennel Seed – With a long history of use for increasing breast milk flow and enhancing the libido, many companies claim it’s a potent ingredient for enhancing the bust. Besides an informal study that showed female rats increasing breast tissue after consuming Fennel Seed, there is no clinical evidence showing a link to breast enlargement. In the informal study, the rats also experienced increased weight in the uterus (thus, making the results inconclusive).
In the end, bust enhancement creams are advertised based upon claims that are unsupported with clinical evidence. Their claims of using herbal ingredient to increase breast size makes little sense. Even the FDA states on their website, “Creams and lotions advertised as breast developers don’t work.”
If your breast size is truly an issue for you, then your money would be best spent on consulting a dermatologist who may be able to suggest a procedure that may work for you. More important, however, is to try to accept your individual beauty.
