Jojoba oil is not really an oil, but a liquid wax produced in the seed of the jojoba plant (Simmondsia chinensis), a shrub native to southern Arizona, southern California, and northwestern Mexico.
Jojoba oil is very similar in composition to sebum (oil found in human skin), making it useful in cosmetics. It is non-comedogenic and has many benefits:
- Moisturizes
- Balances oil production
- Stable – so doesn’t spoil easily
- Spreads and absorbs well
Jojoba oil can be somewhat expensive and when used in high concentrations, it may make skin appear shiny. For this reason, you may want to reserve it for night time use.
You can find jojoba oil incorporated into a range of skin care products including make-up removers, lip balms, hair conditioners, shaving preparations and massage oils.
Told that taking 2.5 grams of jojoba can help with my weight. Can jojoba oil be injected?
Tonya, this is a question best asked of your physician. Wishing you the best of health, Sharmani
