If you’re preparing to leave winter, snow and cold temperatures behind with a much-anticipated Spring Break getaway, you’ll want to make sure to include a few of these skin-saving must-haves in your suitcase. Many are within the size limit to go into carry-on luggage, and if you’re at all familiar with this blog, you won’t be surprised that sunscreen is at the top of my list of 5 essentials:
- Sunscreen, and lots of it. Anthelios is my go-to line for stable and effective broad-spectrum UVA/ UVB protection. Top selling Anthelios XL SPF 60 Melt in Cream in the 100ml tube is the one that goes in the carry-on so I know that even if the luggage gets lost, I’ll still have my favorite. As for the kids, there are no complaints with the easy to apply, dry, velvety finish of Anthelios XL SPF 45 Spray. Ombrelle sunscreens are also formulated with Mexoryl technology and are a great value for those long days on the beach.
- Anthelios XL SPF 50+ Lip Stick. Yes, this is still sunscreen but considering that the lips have some of the thinnest skin on the body as well as being one of the most neglected areas for sun protection, I figured this ultra-effective lip balm deserved special mention.
- Apothekari Undercover Agent. With high potency concentrations of vitamins C and E and ferulic acid, this unique serum not only prevents damage by neutralizing free radicals but adds an additional layer of UVA and UVB protection to the skin. Consider it as a way to boost the power of your sunscreen.
- Cliniderm NutriComfort Soothing Body Balm. This newest member of the Cliniderm family is quickly becoming one of my favorites. Warm weather getaways always seem to leave my skin feeling parched. With hydrating shea butter and allantoin, this paraben-free body balm will replenish the skin’s moisture that the sun and sea have stripped away. Apply at night and let it do its magic.
- Argan oil. Wild-crafted and 100% pure, argan oil is lightweight, penetrates quickly and is non-greasy. Plus, this is one multi-tasker that lives up to the hype. Use it as a facial moisturizer, an overnight treatment or a skin softener in the bath. As a conditioner for hair that’s been damaged by saltwater and chlorine, argan oil is second to none. Best of all, a little of this liquid gold goes a long way.
With any luck, by the time you get back home, spring thaw will be well in progress and winter just a distant memory.
