Made in Canada, Heiko sunscreens are a range of zinc oxide based natural sunscreens that use organically grown and botanical ingredients.
Our skin encounters UVA and UVB rays from sun exposure every day. This happens regardless of whether it is sunny or cloudy. UVB rays are important in the production of Vitamin D and nobody can dispute the feel good factor associated with the sun. However, unprotected over exposure to the sun’s rays, can lead to short and long term skin damage. UVB rays can lead to sunburns, while UVA rays contribute to longer term damage including wrinkles, age spots, loss of skin firmness and hyperpigmentation.
Heiko sunscreens are formulated with zinc oxide, a naturally occuring agent that works to physically block both UVA and UVB rays. Zinc oxide is not absorbed, but sits on top of the skin where it is able to deflect the sun’s rays.
