In case you didn’t know it, I’m a traveler at heart. I met my husband traveling so it’s not surprising that we share the same passion and over the past years, we’ve been fortunate enough to plan adventures far and wide. Thailand, Cambodia, Australia, South Africa, Europe and more; it hasn’t been unusual for us to come back from a holiday and immediately organize the next one!
But this year is different. Our little girls are grown teens now and they have lives of their own. They are working this summer and interested in spending more time with friends. In fact, each has travel plans of their own. While the change is a bit unsettling, it’s been coming for a while and I’m beginning to adjust. I have to confess that for the first time in a very long while, that the lack of travel plans has brought with it a sense of calm.
Traveling, as exciting as it is, is also hard work so for the first time in many years, I’m embracing the Staycation – where I’ll stay home and take advantage of the many activities Vancouver and its surroundings has to offer. My home town is a glorious city and it shows itself off best in the summer. What better time to take it all in?
