I’m thrilled to introduce Keys Solar Rx sunblock, an all natural sunscreen that protects with zinc oxide.
Why A Natural Sunscreen?
There are many individuals who cannot tolerate chemical sunscreens and this can be especially true if you have sensitive skin. Other individuals just want to have an alternative to a chemical free product, especially one that they might be using every day. So the quest was on. For years I’ve been looking for a natural sunscreen formulated with physical blockers. And believe me, I’ve tested many. I’ve tried various brands – organic ones, natural ones and ones that claimed to be neither.
While many of the sunscreens had the right formulation to deliver the goods – they contained the right ingredients at the right concentration to deliver broad spectrum UVA/UVB protection – they fell down when it came to application. Many were far too oily. If I couldn’t imagine putting them on my face, there is no way I’d be happy recommending them to you. However, the main problem was that they left a distinct white cast on skin. While this might not be so noticeable on lighter skin, it just didn’t work for me. I have darker skin and natural or not, there was no way that I’d be comfortable wearing a product like this even for just a couple of hours.
Keys Solar Rx Formulation
That’s why I’m so excited about Keys Solar Rx. Formulated with nano-zinc oxide, Keys Solar Rx is rated by the Environmental Working Group Skin Deep Report as the safest sunscreen on the market. It is also a moisturizer in addition to being a sunscreen. This makes it an excellent two-in-one moisturizer plus sunscreen, a huge bonus for those of us with little time to spare in the morning. It’s also perfect for use on children. One thing to keep in mind, it is not water resistant.
The nano-zinc oxide in Keys Solar Rx is uncoated to deliver healing effects that are associated with zinc oxide. Uncoated zinc has been shown to deliver anti-bacterial and antimicrobial effects. In addition, it has been shown to reduce redness, rosacea, age spots and melasma. It is fragrance free, which will help to reduce the irritation commonly associated with many fragrances.
While wearing a sunscreen is a great defence against the damaging effects of the sun’s UV rays, remember that practicing sun smarts should always be your first step:
- Cover up or seek shade when you can
- Limit exposure to UV rays between the hours of 10 am and 2 pm when the sun’s rays are strongest
- Wear sunglasses and big hats to protect eyes and face
Keys rounds out its face care line with some other effective and innovative products including: Keys Eye Butter, Keys Luminos Moisturizer, Keys Island Rx Foaming Face Wash.
