Drooping Nose? Blame It On Age

Don’t be alarmed, but did you know that a drooping nose is a sign of aging?

Although you won’t read much about it, the shape of your nose is affected by aging. Subtle changes including a drooping nose and soft tissue growth can contribute to appearing older. Gravity as well as a weakening of the cartilage in the nose are part of the problem.

Nose jobs (also known in the business as rhinoplasty) may help to reduce or eliminate a drooping nose, but they aren’t commonly performed for this condition. Radiofrequency treatments can help to tighten and shrink soft tissue if there is excessive growth. In theory they may help to tighten up the nose area and reduce the drooping. However, there isn’t much evidence to recommend this procedure.

Proponents of facial exercises claim that they can help to lift and firm muscles, helping to firm up a drooping nose. However, any evidence to recommend these is anecdotal.

If a drooping nose is truly a concern check in with a qualified and experienced plastic surgeon who may be best able to advise you regarding your options.
