ChroNOline is a new active ingredient that promises to reduce wrinkles and fine lines leading to younger looking skin. Is it something you should consider adding to your skin care regimen?
Derived from a growth factor, ChroNOline is a peptide which is linked to a lipid (fat) to increase its stability and penetration into the skin. To understand how ChroNOline works, it may be helpful to know that skin is comprised of the epidermis (uppermost layer) and the dermis (lower layer). These layers are separated by a membrane, often referred to as the dermal epidermal junction (DEJ). Skin components including collagen VII, laminin-5 and fibronectin are produced at the DEJ level. These components are necessary for the skin’s structural support, helping to keep everything tight and perky and preventing skin sag. Laminin 5, in particular, plays a key role in helping keep the epidermis firmly attached to the dermis.
According to ChroNOline’s manufacturer (no independent studies are available yet), topical application increases collagen III by 34%, laminin production by 26% and laminin 5 by 49%. In a clinical trial involving 27 female volunteers aged from 40 to 65, ChroNOline reduced fine lines & wrinkles by as much as 29% after 28 days. Study volunteers agreed that the ingredient rendered the skin a smoother, firmer and more even look.
Still early days and more research is needed, but ChroNOline may be something you wish to try.
