Back in the 1990s when we all had video recorders (remember those?), I was proud of the fact that I’d figured out how to program it to tape my favorite shows.
While the VCR for the most part has gone the way of the dodo, PVRs, streaming and downloading have filled the void, leaving us with myriad ways to watch, tape and listen to our fave music and shows. The PVR has changed my life, allowing me to watch what I want, when I want, without all those nasty commercials – one big step forward for mankind!
Beyond the PVR though, our home also sports cable, AppleTV and Rdio (an amazing online music subscription service). Although I wouldn’t describe myself as a Luddite, I have to confess that I’ve become increasingly stressed by all these applications and the efforts (along with number of remotes) required to switch between them. That’s why I’m in love with our latest toy – a universal remote – that my technology obsessed husband insisted we must have. One (I stress this, just ONE) remote is all I need to listen to music, watch movies or TV shows. You should get one too.
