We recently discussed BB creams, which stands for ‘beauty balm’. BB creams are designed to prime, hydrate, tint and smooth skin. They often contain a sunscreen to help protect skin as well. The CC cream, which stands for ‘conceal and correct’ is designed to help even out skin tone, a boon to those of us looking for color correction.
The DD cream? Standing for ‘disguise and diminish’, ‘Dynamic-Do-Alls’ or ‘ Daily Defense Creams’, DD Creams are the latest beauty innovation for makeup and skincare fused products to hit the market. DD Creams claim to provide what BB’s and CC’s don’t. Offering more coverage than a BB cream and more benefits than a CC cream, it looks like DD Creams might be the new makeup trend.
Several cosmetic companies have introduced DD Creams that moisturize, prime, perfect and protect skin. They are lightweight and can contain antioxidants and skin brighteners as well. If all those letters are confusing, the take-away is that despite the differences in claims amongst BB’s, CC’s, and DD’s, all of these creams are geared towards women who want makeup coverage that’s lighter than a heavy foundation, but delivers the added features found in traditional skincare products such as sunscreen and anti-aging benefits.
Still confused? It may be easier to think about all of these products as tinted moisturizers which combine different beauty needs of women into one product, making them multi-taskers for individuals who want to simplify their skin care/beauty regimen.
Personally, I think these lettered products are a fad that will soon go away. There are many great products on the market and I’m not convinced that you can slap them all together to create one super product that will work for everyone. We’re all individuals after all and what works for your best friend might not be right for you.
What do you think – is a DD cream on your radar?
You have great blog. I liked your blog. Whole series of BB, CC, creams are good. BB cream which stands for beauty balm, CC cream which stands for diminish and now DD creams are coming , which stands for..Which BB and CC cream are not able to provide. They are most effective for skin care….
