Hi
I have very fair, freckly skin that burns easily. I have also developed PLME in the last couple of years having suffered from prickly heat when exposed to sunshine most of my adult life! The various sensitive skin sun care products I have used in the past have brought me out in a rash.
Can you recommend a sun protection product and also an after sun product suitable for my needs. I am from the UK and am off to the Greek Islands for a boating holiday in less than three weeks, where I believe the temperature will be 40+!
Kind regards
Tina
For Tina,
Thank you for your blog question.
Polymorphous Light Eruption combined with sensitive skin makes sun protection slightly more challenging but not impossible! Our top tips would be:
•Choose a stable, broad spectrum UVA/UVB blocking sunscreen with a high protection factor and reapply every two hours. Select from our wide selection of Anthelios sunscreens with Mexoryl. We believe Anthelios provides some of the best UVA and UVB sun protection available on the market today.
•Layer an antioxidant under your sunscreen. Antioxidants neutralize harmful free radicals generated by UV rays. Apothekari Undercover Agent Vitamin C/E/Ferulic Acid Serum contains an effective combination of ingredients and may be used by all skin types.
•Avoid the sun during its peak hours between 10am and 4pm
•Seek shade wherever and whenever you can
•Wear protective clothing
For after-sun, choose a moisturizer that you know agrees with your skin to replenish lost hydration, such as the Anthelios Posthelios After Sun Gel or Impruv Barrier Cream with shea butter.
As with any new products and sensitive skin, do perform a skin patch test to minimize any possible adverse reactions.
Have a lovely holiday in Greece!
Best, Sharmani
