Since the phenomenon of BB creams a number of years ago, we can’t seem to get enough of Korean beauty products. The influence of the Asian skincare industry has continued to grow with the recent popularity of cleansing oils and sheet masks. Poised to make the next big splash in North America are “bounce creams”, a hybrid between a cream and a gel. Less creamy and more spongey than the traditional face treatments we’re used to (think….pudding), bounce creams are light in feel and texture but formulated to be super-hydrating. And while the Korean skincare routine is renowned for requiring one product for each of its 10 steps, bounce creams take on a very Western multi-tasking twist by combining the hydration of a cream and the actives of a serum into one cutting-edge format.
Similar to the ubiquitous BB cream that we have wholeheartedly adopted, a bounce cream is simply the moisturizing base to which any number of skin-benefitting goodies may be added, such as algae, minerals, fruit extracts, even snail slime. Whether you’re looking to boost collagen, fight fine lines or improve blemishes, you’ll find a bounce cream to suit. In fact, the only thing that bounce creams seem to have in common is the jiggle in the jar.
For those of us who aren’t fans of heavier creams or want something lighter and more refreshing to use in the warmer months, bounce creams are a welcome option. With a texture made to melt into the skin and formulated to feed it, we’re thinking bounce creams are well on their way to becoming the next K-beauty hit.
