Happy New Year 2018!
I’m not a big fan of New Year’s resolutions, believing that if you want to change or achieve something, there’s no time like the present. There’s never a bad time to implement positive new habits so why wait till the new year – do it now!
Having said that though, many of us do place a lot of emphasis on changing things up in a new year and that’s not necessarily a bad thing. The past week has allowed for some down time and moments for reflection into what’s important in life and what makes me happy. This light article – 9 Ways to Be a Better Person in 2018 from the New York Times put a smile on my face and seems fitting to share as we dive into 2018.
Here are three tips that really resonated with me:
- Make Your Bed. I’m not a bed maker most days, (secret’s out) but I’m going to give this one a try. It really does take less than a minute. Who knows what it may lead to?
- Accept the Things you Cannot Control. As a bonafide Type A personality, this one is going to be a bit of a challenge. I’ve already been working on it, but it’s a tough one for me.
- If You Suffer a Setback, Just Keep Going — and Going Out. As an entrepreneur and small business owner, I’ve had no shortage of setbacks. How true this tip is – I’ve learned that how you react to inevitable adversity is more important than the adversity itself.
What about you? Do you kick off a new year with resolutions?
