Researchers at the University of Tel Aviv have released a study which indicates that a workplace which supports its employees emotionally also enables them to live longer.
Conversely, those who experienced alienation and other negative factors at work were shown to be more than twice as likely to die during the course of the study.
What makes a happy workplace? The researchers suggest more opportunities for employees to have positive social interactions — such as regular social outings or a designated chat area. Also, peer support programs which allow workers to confidentially share their problems have been shown to increase contentment in the office.
