A south Korean study claims that bee venom is the answer to aging; the latest “botox in a jar”.
Researchers led by Dr Sang Mi Han spent ten years on their project, which apparently revealed that bee venom from bee stings helps prevent sun damage and restore collagen formation. The study was funded by a New Zealand beauty company which (surprise) has now released a treatment based on bee venom.
No details are forthcoming about either the study or the active ingredients which purportedly make bee venom so good for your skin. The product has, however, caused some celebrity buzz — Camilla the Duchess of Cornwall, for instance, is said to have enjoyed a pricey (about US$80) bee venom facial.
Not enough to entice me to smear my face with bee venom, I’m afraid. What about you?
