The kids are back at school, you’ve adjusted to your new routine (kinda), you know what needs updating in your wardrobe – have you thought about how to get your skin ready for fall?
Subtle changes are in the air – crisper mornings and cooler evenings signify that we are nearing the end of summer. As we transition between the seasons, it may be time to revisit and possibly, update your skin care routine. Big changes aren’t likely needed, but your skin may benefit from some gentle tweaking.
In particular, fall (and winter) is accompanied by lower humidity and cooler temperatures which can be unkind to skin. Here are 3 ways to show your skin some love this fall:
- Consider more emollient treatments. Low humidity and low temperatures can cause skin to lose moisture. If you notice this start to happen, switch to a heavier product. I trust La Roche Posay Hydraphase (it comes as either rich or light formulation, depending on your skin type) to deliver moisture without greasiness. Or, you may want to try the Linacare line, which was specifically developed to treat dry skin.
- Continue using your sunscreen. UVB rays may not be strong enough to cause sunburn, but UVA rays abound. You don’t want to pay the price later, of wrinkles, saggy skin and age spots that these rays can lead to. Anthelios sunscreens offer excellent protection in a range of formulations.
- Exfoliate regularly. Too much sun over the summer can damage skin, leaving it looking dull, grey and flaky. Exfolation can help to smooth away rough, dead skin cells, leaving smoother and more lively skin behind. I like incorporating an exfoliant into my skin care regimen once or twice a week. M2 HP Skin Refinish is a particular favorite at the moment. You may also want to consider new La Roche Posay Derm AHA.
There. Great looking skin for fall; a perfect complement to your new fall wardrobe.
