autumn womanIt may be premature to bid summer goodbye before Labor Day but there is something irresistible about the freshness of fall and the promise of a new start. When those ultra-thick 600-page magazines appear on the shelves, I can’t help but flip through them, looking for trends in clothes, makeup and skincare for when the weather turns.

The top 3 makeup trends for fall 2015 seem to focus on lips, eyes and cheeks:

  1. Berry Lips: Summer’s pink and coral lips deepen to berry, and with the wide range of shades and hues, this is one trend that’s easy to adopt while barely putting a dent in the wallet. Add a new black sweater and on-trend plaid skirt for a sophisticated fall look that wouldn’t be out of place in New York City.
  2. High Definition Eyeliner: Liquid and precision black liners do more than the basic cat’s eye. For the more daring, go for exaggerated wings, a “double cat” or heavily lined upper and lower rims. Balance it out with well-groomed eyebrows and pale lips for a very London-inspired look.
  3. Flushed Cheeks: For those of us without the skills to master contouring, flushed cheeks with simple blush is a welcome change. The French have embodied this less-is-more look forever: no foundation or lipstick, just great skin with a healthy glow. Of course, some of us need a bit of help. Anthelios XL SPF 50 Unifying Blur cream might just be the ticket to achieving effortless Parisian chic (but that will be our little secret).

As for the newest skincare, that blog will have to wait. There’s a pair of boots on page 248 of a magazine calling my name. See you at the mall.
