Winter Escape – What You Need

When December hits, many of us start dreaming of making a winter escape. For the lucky ones, it’s more than a dream but then reality hits: what to pack? It really depends on whether you’re heading to the beach or hitting the slopes.

If hot, sunny weather is in your forecast, here are the top 3 things you’ll need:

  1. Sunscreen, of course. We are in love with the new Anthelios XL SPF 50+ BB Cream. Not only does it boast the same UVA and UVB protection that we’ve come to expect from Anthelios products but the slight tint gives us a subtle and natural glow without the need to apply an additional layer of makeup. For the body, we’re packing the extra large 10 oz size of Anthelios XL SPF 50+ Lait Veloute. The last thing we want to do is run out of sun protection.
  2. A light body moisturizer like Complex 15 Lotion. This non-greasy, unscented, no-wait formula replenishes moisture to your skin that chlorine, sea water and the sun may sap. We also love that this lotion is weightless and absorbs almost instantly – a bonus in hot, humid weather.
  3. Multi-purpose argan oil. Not only is this dry-oil perfect for using on the plane for hydrating the face and hands but when the humidity does a number on your hair, a little bit of argan oil rubbed between the hands and applied to the tresses will help fight the frizzies.

If you’re heading to the mountains for some skiing, this is what you’ll want to pack:

  1. Sunscreen, of course. There’s a surprising amount of UV at higher elevations where snow and ice can reflect back up to 80% of the sun’s rays. We may equate sunscreen with warm weather, but it’s equally important to apply sun protection in winter. You may want to opt for a more emollient product like Ombrelle SPF 60 Face Cream to provide a boost of hydration thanks to the tocopherol (vitamin E) in its formula. For portable protection, nothing beats Anthelios XL SPF 60 Targeted Face Stick; it fits in a small pocket and can be applied in under 10 seconds, including the often-neglected lips.
  2. A moisturizer that’s suited for the dryer conditions, like La Roche Posay Lipikar AP+ Body Baume. With 20% shea butter, this innovative body cream is specially formulated for dry and/or sensitive skin and works to replenish the skin’s natural lipids.
  3. Apothekari Undercover Agent Serum with vitamins C, E and ferulic acid. Whether you’re navigating the bunny hills or black diamond runs, your face is exposed to the same cold, drying air. Use it under your sunscreen to boost its powers and to protect the skin from oxidative and environmental stresses. Use it at night to feed the skin, repair damage and restore lost moisture.

For those of us who aren’t planning on hopping a plane for a quick escape, don’t feel left out: all these products work equally well on staycations.
