Skin care trends come and go, and although many sound promising, there are very few about which I truly get excited. However, boosters have just made the list of products that I have enthusiastically added to my routine.
Skin care boosters are exactly what they sound like: concentrated liquids that allow you to personally customize the ingredients you want for your skin and elevate the treatment to the next level. Many can be used alone or added to another product, most often a moisturizer. The advantage is that it allows you to tailor your skin care treatments based on your current individual needs. Skin changes and so should the products that you use in order to obtain optimally healthy skin. No more buying a product just because it is the closest to your dream cream!
Boosters are an incredible opportunity to take control of which active ingredients you want for your skin. We are going beyond the “one size fits all” and becoming as close to our own skin care developers as we can get. Keep in mind that boosters are meant to enhance the results you’re getting from antioxidant serums and not meant as a direct replacement.
My favorite way of using boosters is to add a few drops to a basic moisturizer . This way, any concerns about compatibility are minimized. The last thing you want to do is to negate any or all benefits by mixing too many ingredients together. Whether you want skin brightening, treatment for hyperpigmentation or simply more hydration, boosters are ideal for targeting skin issues. In fact, we’ve been “boosting” our hand cream for years with Argan oil, especially in the winter when hands take an extra beating from the dry, cold air.
Let’s hope this is one trend that sticks around.
