Purfem Probiotic Vaginal Ovules is a natural health product made of two naturally occurring strains of probiotics contained in a vaginal ovule. Purfem is indicated for the prevention and treatment of itching, burning, dryness, odor and/or slightly increased discharge caused by an imbalance of the microbial vaginal flora.
Your health care professional may recommend Purfem in cases of bacterial vaginosis, trichomoniasis and yeast infections.
Purfem Probiotic Vaginal Ovules works by re-establishing the healthy bacterial balance in the vagina. The 2 Lactobacillus species in Purfem convert lactose in the vagina to lactic acid which changes the pH of the vagina to the normal range. This more acidic environment makes it harder for the pathogenic (“bad”) bacteria to thrive and reproduce.

Directions:

Purfem Probiotic Vaginal Ovules may be used by adults and children 12 years and older for prevention or treatment of symptoms of itching, burning, dryness, odor or unusual discharge.
In general the Purfem ovule should be inserted high into the vagina, pushing it in gently with one finger. The hands must be properly washed before inserting the ovule.
Prevention – insert one ovule immediately after the menstrual period every day for 4-6 days at bedtime.
After Antibiotic Treatment – insert one ovule every day for 6-8 days at bedtime.
Treatment – insert one ovule every day for 6-8 days at bedtime.
Children – Purfem Probiotic® is not recommended for children below 12 years of age.
There is no need to remove Purfem Probiotic as the ovule dissolves and the contents remain in the vagina to continue working.
Tell your health care provider if you are taking or have recently taken other prescription or non-prescription health products.
Who should not use it?
Purfem Probiotic should not be used by those who are known to be hypersensitive (allergic) to lactic acid bacteria or any of its other ingredients.
Possible side-effects
No undesirable effects have been reported with Purfem Probiotic. If your original discomfort worsens after 8 days of treatment you should contact your doctor as this may be a sign of an illness which may require a different treatment.
Taking too much or forgetting a dose
If you have taken more Purfem Probiotic than the recommended dose and you feel unwell, then contact your doctor, emergency unit or pharmacist.
If you have forgotten to take your dose of Purfem Probiotic, do not double you next dose but continue to take your normal dose at the next appropriate time.

Ingredients:

Each Ovule Contians: 10^9 CFU Lactobacillus rhamnosus and 10^9 CFU Lactobacillus gasseri.
