Haloxyl is an ingredient added to eye care products for its ability to lighten dark circles. Will it work for you?
Haloxyl is a combination of two peptides (Palmitoyl Oligopeptide and Palmitoyl Tetrapeptide-7) along with Hydrosuccinimide and Chrysin. It works by absorbing and eliminating colored blood pigments in the skin that are responsible for dark circles under the eyes. It has also been shown to have an anti-inflammatory effect and can help to reinforce the firmness and tone of the eye area.
Dark circles under the eye may be caused by an accumulation of haemoglobin and colored degradation products (like bilirubin and iron) in the skin. The Chrysin component of Haloxyl stimulates the enzyme that leads to the clearance of these degradation products, allowing them to be eliminated and ridding the dark circles. The peptide components in Haloxyl help to increase firmness in the capillaries, which prevents them from rupturing and leaking haemoglobin into the skin.
Clinical Evidence
In a study, 22 female volunteers applied a 2% Haloxyl gel to the eye contour area. After 56 days, there was a greater than 60% reduction in under eye dark circles in the treated eye as compared to the untreated one.
If your dark circles are a result of accumulated haemoglobin or colored degradation products, you may wish to consider treatment with Haloxyl. Find it in Neostrata Anti-Dark Circle Complex.
